Victor H. Moll教授简介：美国杜兰大学数学系教授，他在数学分析和积分变换领域有着深厚的造诣，并且在复杂函数论方面也有显著贡献。他撰写了多部关于组合学和符号学的专著和经典教材，并在Communications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, Annals of Combinatorics, Journal of Number Theory, Advances in Applied Mathematics等国际学术期刊上发表了学术论文200余篇。

报告摘要：The talk will present a variety of interesting questions that have appeared in connection to finding analytic expressions for definite integrals of special functions. As an example connected to Number Theory and Combinatorics consider the quartic integral. It turns out that, aside from some simple factors. The coefficients of this polynomials are positive rationals and have remarkable properties. Some of these will be presented. A second interesting example deals with Landen transformations. These are maps on the parameters of an integral which preserve its value. The classical example, essentially due to Landen and Gauss, deals with elliptic integral. Generalization for rational integrands, lead to some dynamical systems with complicated behavior. The final part of the talk will introduce a new heuristic method, the so-called method of brackets. This method was created by Ivan Gonzalez as a procedure to evaluate Feynman diagrams. It consists of a very small number of heuristic rules, some of which have been made rigorous.
